Douglas Horn, a Kansas City injury lawyer, is one of 3 faculty members teaching an advanced personal injury seminar on November 7, 2013. The seminar is being produced by the National Business Institute and being broadcast nationally through a video webcast.
Horn, Founder and Lead Attorney of The Horn Law Firm, P.C., focuses his law practice on representing victims of serious personal injury and wrongful death. Headquartered in Independence, Missouri, Horn concentrates in motor vehicle accidents, work & industrial accidents, and other events causing catastrophic injury.
Horn will be teaching on how to prove non-economic damages, how to properly prepare a doctor for deposition, and the impact of social media on personal injury litigation. These areas are particularly important to attorneys who regularly handle personal injury cases.
Horn has commented that often proof of non-economic damages is the difference between an average settlement and an excellent recovery for an injured person. Non-economic damages are the type of damages associated with loss of mobility, restrictions and limitations, and disability caused by traumatic injury. Horn will also be teaching attorneys the proper method of taking a doctor’s deposition and how the explosion of social media has impacted personal injury cases.
In the past, Horn has lectured on how to handle a distracted driving case for several different continuing legal education firms. Distracted driving has become a concentration area for Horn since 2009. In addition to his legal work, Horn has devoted a significant amount of time and resources advancing driver safety, especially in the area of distracted driving prevention.
