Burn Protocol for Emergency Medical Services, Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services

You can see general guidelines that emergency medical personnel follow when they arrive on the scene and handle emergency care and transportation of burn victims.

George D. Peak Memorial Burn and Wound Center, University of Missouri Health System

This is the website for Missouri’s only intensive burn care center between Kansas City and St. Louis. The center is known for treatment techniques involving skin replacement and for it use of multidisciplinary burn care teams.

Gene and Barbara Burnett Burn Center, University of Kansas Hospital

The website for the American Burn Association and American College of Surgeons-accredited facility, which boasts the Hurlbut Recovery Pavilion to help patients and families “feel at home” during recovery.

American Burn Association

This non-profit health association focuses on problems faced by burn injury victims and their families. It features a list of burn care facilities in the U.S., including Kansas and Missouri.

The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors

This is the site for what is widely considered to be the leading non-profit organization in the U.S. that is dedicated to providing support, education and advocacy for burn injury victims.

The Burns Recovered Support Group

A group of burn survivors formed this organization with support from the burn care team at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. The group assists burn survivors, supports burn care facilities throughout Missouri and raises public awareness about burn injuries. The site includes information about the group’s Burn Camp.

National Fire Protection Association

The site for a non-profit organization that focuses on providing and advocating for codes and standards that prevent fires and burn injuries and supports fire research, training and education.
